Speaking Engagements
At CHANGING CHOICES FOUNDATION we believe speaking engagements are an important part of our purpose.

Millions of Americans are hurting and broken and need help.  Among these hurting people are teenagers and young adults.  Unfortunately there are far too many teens and young adults that are not aware of who or where to turn to for help and growth.  Most often these same people are making poor choices every day and are not aware of how much damage they are doing to their lives, sometimes until it is too late.

"With the struggling economy in Michigan every industry is tightening its belt and cutting back.  Unfortunately school programs and special assembly have not been exempt from these cutbacks and sadly it has become more and more difficult to obtain time to speak at schools.  This deeply saddens me as I feel so passionate about bringing the message of making wise choices to kids of all ages.

During the 2009-2010 school year I had the awesome opportunity to speak at St. Fabians Catholic School in Farmington and at Trenton High School.  At both schools my topic was titled "Interior Design".

No, the topic is not about interior designing.......but speaking to kids about how to live their life based on accepting and loving who they are from the inside out.  This topic not only offers a powerful message but a message of empowerment to the kids attending in that today so many kids struggle with self-esteem and often identity issues, thus often leading them to make unhealthy choices.  When kids learn how to accept and honor who they are and to embrace their authenticity they are more apt to make healthy choices.  They begin to learn how to make choices based on the value of who they truly are instead of making choices on the need to try to be someone they are not.

I have a deep passion to get my message in front of more kids, in more schools.  It is my hope that with the support from people just like you...you, the person who is so gracious to take the time and to show interest in the Changing Choices Foundation.  You, the person who is reading this page right now.  You the person that can help get my message in front of more kids, in more schools, by way of your contribution and possibly your connection to a junior high or high school.  You the person that can help to make a difference, even if only in the life of just one kid that will hear my message.......we will both know in our heart that the Changing Choices Foundation is for a just and good cause and that we are successful in our mission.  Ask yourself, "How
can I help?" ........Coach Scott

As a former High School Teacher and now serving as a Certified Professional Life Coach, Scott Harris Founder of Changing Choices Foundation has a courageous and
heartfelt
calling to speak to people of all ages especially to teens and young adults about addictions, other destructive behaviors, relationships and the importance of making wise choices.

Coach Scott is pleased to announce that he is available to speak to High School Assembly, Service Club Youth and Church Groups and College kids of all ages.

Coach Scott is a frequent speaker at Trenton High School Assembly and has shared his talks at the Renaissance Unity Church Youth Group and other high schools as well.

"It's so very powerful for teens and young adults to hear the messages of my experiences.  The impact of my talk can effectively stop any one of these wonderful young people from making bad choices.

That's why its so crucial for me to speak to teens and kids of all ages.  I have a very meaningful, significant and serious message to share with them because most young people think they are infallible to addictions but that's just not the case at all.  In fact, some of them have absolutely no clue whatsoever that many of their daily activities are becoming addictive!

When I speak to teens and young people about addictions they almost always make reference to drugs and alcohol.  Even though it's true that these are two of the most common and well known addictions what these kids don't often realize is that stealing a CD or a video game is committing a
crime."....Scott A. Harris

The National Crime Prevention Council states that about 25% of all the people who get "caught" shoplifting are between the ages of 13 and 17 years old.

"That's often how it all starts......at a very young age, making bad choices.
And, it's not about growing up in a ghetto or even not having the money to buy what you want.  My parents bought me most of what I wanted....none of that is the point!  Anyone from any economic social structure can become addicted to anything!  Kids and young adults need to be educated about other types of addictions.....over spending, smoking, gambling, junk food and sugar, eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia, bullying, lying, cutting and self inflicted harm to oneself to name some of the serious issues that teens and young adults are facing today.  When I start talking about playing video games, spending time on the Internet, overshopping and overspending they look at me like "What?", but it's so very crucial that they get the message!"......Coach Scott

It's true, every day teens and young people of all ages are making bad choices, many participating in addictive destructive behaviors and their lives are being devastated.  The good news is.....as adults, we can take action and educate our youth about addictions and destructive behaviors and teach them about making healthy choices.

Scott Harris is dedicated and committed to speaking to and educating as many young people as possible about these crucial messages.
